Duo Melinès
The show
MIREILLE BOISSENIN:
Mireille began studying piano and music theory privately with Jacqueline Gallon before entering the Besançon Conservatory. She also worked with other teachers, including Edouard Oganessian, a concert pianist trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. She formed the jazz-funk group AZ with two other Conservatory students. They composed music, toured France, Belgium, Germany, and Canada, and performed at the Printemps de Bourges festival as part of the official lineup, as well as at the Eurockéennes de Belfort festival and numerous other festivals. In the studio, artists called upon her to arrange and record their music. After attending the Centre de Formation Musicale at the University of Strasbourg, she earned the DUMI (University Diploma for Performing Musicians) and participated in contemporary music concerts (prepared piano pieces by John Cage and Kagel). Holding a Master's degree in musicology, Mireille then entered the world of teaching. Piano lessons and music theory classes at various music schools in Franche-Comté and at the Besançon Conservatory punctuate his daily life.
Her path crossed with Christine's again; they had studied with the same teachers and had known each other since childhood, and they decided to start playing two pianos together. This is how the Duo Melinès came to life in 2021. Their first CD, "Homage to Piazzolla," was released in the spring of 2022, also including works by Guastavino and Rachmaninoff. In September 2022 in Besançon, the Duo Melinès performed a full program dedicated to Astor Piazzolla, including Oblivion, Adios Nonino, Café 1930, Tangata, and Milonga del Angel. The Krachta Valda group and the Duo Melinès concluded this concert with a unique finale to Piazzolla's famous "Libertango," as Roland Romanelli himself joined them on accordion for a truly magical moment.
