Igor
The show
Prince Igor's Russian Ballet
The company's choreographer, Igor Goriatchkine, worked with the Moiseyev Ballet for 15 years and toured the world with them. Arriving in France in 1994, he discovered the world of Parisian cabarets and worked as a French Cancan soloist at the Moulin Rouge for 10 years.
In his choreography, he seeks to revitalize character dance while preserving its authentic style and technique. This choreographic exploration follows in the footsteps of one of Russia's greatest choreographers, Mikhail Godenko, who for decades astonished audiences with his original ideas and visual effects.
The artist
The artists of the company
Founded in 2003, the company brings together Slavic artists living in France. After studying at dance schools and working with major companies, they all had to leave their countries to continue making a living from their art and sharing joy and zest for life with their audiences. Indeed, in dance, one can learn sequences and perfect technique, but it is impossible for an artist without Slavic roots to express and convey feelings that are unfamiliar to them, since they have never experienced them firsthand. Therefore, to maintain the true authenticity of the performance, the company works exclusively with artists from Eastern European countries (Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, etc.).
«Radouga» is a journey to the heart of Russia. «Radouga» is a meeting of two worlds, two cultures... «Radouga» is a colorful spectacle... «Radouga» - it simply means «rainbow» in Russian.
The troupe chose this name for the show because it perfectly reflects their own identity. Through Slavic dances and songs, you will discover the true Russian culture, its traditions, and its musicality. In this show, we will unveil certain secrets, mysteries, and stereotypes. Do Russians really break glasses? Why do masses place so much importance on the color red? How do the northern people—the Nanai people—combat the Siberian cold? What sacred symbol exists in Roma culture? The show answers all these questions and many more. It makes this culture accessible and understandable while carefully preserving its originality. After several years spent in France, the company's artists noticed how much our two cultures, seemingly different yet historically very linked, resemble each other and find common ground in unusual and profound encounters, to which a portion of this show is dedicated. You will see a Russian soldier and a Parisian prostitute captivated by love in an acrobatic dance. Sailors will dance to woo a young woman in the port of Marseille. The troupe will "make the roosters dance," "set the carousels spinning," and sing you the most famous songs as well as introduce you to new ones. This production has brought together talented artists who love their homeland, and we hope that after the show, "Radouga" will have shared its joie de vivre with you and illuminated your sky with the vibrant colors of Russia.
